Donations for Japan Earthquake relief
Sumitomo Mitsui
Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Masayuki Oku) will donate JPY 300*
million to the Japan Red Cross Society to help relief and recovery efforts in the
affected communities.
Other group
companies of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (SMFG, President: Teisuke Kitayama) will also make donations. The groupfs donations,
including SMBCfs, will total approximately JPY 600
million.
We are also implementing
a wide range of initiatives, such as soliciting contributions from our
employees. A number of group companies have also implemented a matching gift
program that will fully match their employeesf contributions.
We pray for the
early recovery of the affected people and areas.
(*) Increased
to JPY 300 million from the JPY 100 million announced in the Japanese news
release of March 12, 2011, due to the scale of devastation.
