Opening of New Delhi Representative Office

TOKYO , April 25, 2011 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Takeshi Kunibe) hereby announces a commencement of operation of its New Delhi Representative Office on April 28, 2011, as a part of our network expansion in Asia .

The establishment of the new representative office in New Delhi will enable us to more effectively gather information in India, and we will continue to strive to offer enhanced, comprehensive services to our clients.

SMBC will continue to offer commercial banking services to its Japanese clients through SCB Japan Desk under the business alliance with Standard Chartered Bank. Meanwhile, it will cooperate with Kotak Mahindra Bank to develop new business opportunities in asset management, alternate assets, securities and investment banking businesses.
