Capital and Business Alliance with PT INDONESIA INFRASTRUCTURE FINANCE

 

TOKYO, March 19, 2012 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”, President: Takeshi Kunibe) and PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (“PT. IIF”, President Director & CEO: Kartika Wirjoatmodjo) have signed subscription and business alliance agreements today for SMBC to subscribe to approximately 14.9% of the total issued shares of IIF and for both parties to engage in a business alliance.

 

PT. IIF is a joint venture company one of whose main shareholders is PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (“SMI”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ministry of Finance of Republic of Indonesia. PT. IIF is focusing on finance in infrastructure sectors such as Electricity (Independent Power Producer), Toll Road, Water Management and Water Supply, Port and Telecommunication Infrastructure. PT. IIF will also focus on advisory business which promote Public Private Partnership (“PPP”) projects and to increase the number of commercially viable and bankable infrastructure project streams in Indonesia. 

 

Through this business alliance, SMBC will cooperate with IIF by introducing and co-working in infrastructure project finance transactions in Indonesia, and assist in financing including secondment of our staffs.

 

SMBC continues to support our clients who are focusing on infrastructure development projects through close cooperation with IIF, and provide high value-add services that contribute to infrastructure development and economic growth in Indonesia by utilizing our acquired expertise and know-how.
