Completion of Acquisition of Additional Shares in
Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Company, Limited
TOKYO, March 28,
2013 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC; President: Takeshi Kunibe)
announced that it has acquired an additional 12.5% equity stake in Sumitomo
Mitsui Asset Management Company, Limited (SMAM) from Sumitomo Life Insurance
Company, after having obtained regulatory approval from the relevant
authorities, pursuant to an agreement dated January 10, 2013, among SMBC,
Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited and
Mitsui Life Insurance Company, Limited. Following this acquisition of additional
shares, the partiesf respective shareholding stakes in SMAM are as shown in the
table below.
The aim of this acquisition of additional
shares is to further strengthen SMBCfs asset management business, which SMBC
has set out as one of its strategic areas of business segments.
SMBC is committed to further enhancing its services to comprehensively meet its
clientsf diversified and sophisticated needs.
