1. Relocation of Headquarters Operations
SMFG and SMBC will relocate their headquarters operations to Otemachi area as described below.
Since the merger of Sakura Bank and Sumitomo Bank in April 2001, headquarters
operations have been divided into two locations, at Hibiya and Otemachi in

In light of the relocation of its headquarters operations, SMBC
decided to acquire ownership of

Acquisition price : 125.1 billion yen

*Note: SMBC will acquire ownership of the real estate by acquiring the property trust beneficiary interest of the building from Otemachi Capital Y.K. and by terminating the related trust contract accordingly.

There is no revision to SMFGfs earnings forecasts for the year ending March 31, 2007.
