Alternative
Investment Capital Limited (gAICh, CEO: Kazushige Kobayashi) and Sumitomo
Mitsui Banking Corporation (gSMBCh, CEO: Masayuki Oku)@have entered into a
capital and business alliance agreement with regard to asset management business
that focuses on private equity fund investments.
As
part of the alliance agreement, SMBC has purchased 20% of AIC shares (1,600
shares) from present shareholders, Mitsubishi Corporation (gMCh, CEO: Yorihiko Kojima), Daido Life Insurance Company (gDaido
Lifeh, CEO: Haruo Kuramochi),
and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (gMUTBh, CEO: Kinya Okauchi). SMBC has also
delegated one part-time director to AIC.

manages several fund-of-funds vehicles investing in private equity funds within

has reinforced its financial business by using the strength of its stance as a
general trading company, and has concurrently assisted in the promotion of AIC
as a capable fund manager in the field of asset management in private equity funds.
