TOKYO , April 6, 2009 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. issued the following statement on media reports regarding its financial results for fiscal 2008.

Since last weekend, certain media reported on our financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009. However, we are currently processing the data and have yet to finalize the financial results.
