17, 2010 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
(President: Masayuki Oku, hereinafter gSMBCh) hereby announces that SMBC Capital
Markets Limited (President: Antony Yates, hereinafter gCM(LN)h), a
wholly-owned subsidiary of SMBC incorporated in the UK,
has decided to change its name as described below and to enter into a business
cooperation agreement with Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. (President: Eiji Watanabe, hereinafter gNikko Cordialh), also a wholly-owned
subsidiary of SMBC, to cover certain securities related activities in the
UK.
The new agreement will promote and strengthen the close collaboration
between Nikko Cordial, the core entity of SMBCfs securities business, and CM(LN), the core entity of SMBCfs derivatives business in
