Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and ProMéxico sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Business Partnership

 

TOKYO, January 26, 2015 – Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President and CEO: Takeshi Kunibe) announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on business partnership with ProMéxico to promote investment in Mexico by Japanese companies.

ProMéxico is the federal government agency responsible for coordinating strategies aimed at strengthening Mexico's participation in the international economy, supporting the process of exporting firms established in the country and coordinating activities aimed at attracting foreign investment. It has offices in Japan and around the world, promoting and supporting foreign direct investment into Mexico by providing advisory services, including providing information and holding seminars.

Mexico is becoming a major car manufacturer and exporter with foreign car manufacturers and suppliers, especially the Japanese companies in recent years, investing in Mexico.

Under the MOU, SMBC and ProMéxico will jointly hold seminars and provide information on Mexico, thereby enhancing our capability to support Japanese corporate clients considering expanding into or investing in Mexico.
